MEDICAL INFORMATION
- MedlinePlus (see for details: National Institute of Health)
A good place to start is the Web site of the National Institute of Health (NIH)
Medline Plus (medlineplus.gov) , which provides authoritative up-to-date information
on over 800 diseases and conditions from the world's largest medical library, the
National Library of Medicine. All you need to do is search for your health topic
through its alphabetical index! The Medline Plus home page also has links to
extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive
patient tutorials, and the latest health news.
If you would like to search for more in-depth medical articles on your health topic,
another NIH website PubMed, pubmed.gov, has over 19 million citations: just type in
a few keywords and you will find the latest research! There is also a new innovative
website, NIH Senior Health, nihseniorhealth.gov/, which provides basic
health and wellness information with buttons at the top of each page to make the text
bigger, change text color, or even hear the text read aloud!
